Holy cow! It's white!

Guess what I found when I woke up this morning?

That's right! Snow! Lots and lots and lots of snow! You can't even see the street!!!!

Choo Choo does not like snow. She peed on it just to show it what she thought of it.

After she tracked her little paws through the little bushes that she thinks are trees. She wanted to mark up the smooth snow. And she did. Her little paws sank in two inches. :)

And I tried to claim the snow.

Notice I have boot prints marking it as well.

That's my building. Across the ocean of snow. See my boot prints?

Coming down the stairs was a thrill!

Lame as it is, a picture of me surrounded by the snow. Yes, my eyes are closed. There's this blinding light shoot off of the snow. It made my eyes tear up like mad!

And before you ask, no, I did not get to pelt Padawan with a snowball. He came down with the flu yesterday, and while revenge is sweet, it's better served when the victim is healthy and therefore capable of surviving the impact of a snowball. He told me that I can freeze one and throw it at him when he feels better, though.

I've waited more than a year. I don't think I want to wait another one. I just may have to take him up on his offer.

And why am I blogging from home instead of work?

Well, it's funny you should ask. Manager called while I was in the shower this morning. He said work is delayed until Noon, and if I didn't think I could navigate the sidewalks because of the snow, I should just call and ask to be picked up.

I am trying to work on this horror I have of driving. Really, I am. But I'm not about to consider operating a vehicle in this weather! Insanity!

Expect some more pictures after I get to work.

You know the employees are showing up early to have a snowball fight in the lot behind the store. I may participate.

Or I might just be the photographer.

Thank you all for wishing I could have some snow. It's just what I wanted.

  1. Frozen snow balls turn into ice balls and they hurt much worse. Padawan may want to rethink that one.

  2. Now, what kind of person would I be if I hit him with an ice ball? I would hold it in my hands for a couple of seconds to soften it before I lobbed it at him. And I wouldn't aim low.

  3. Love all the pictures, especially the one of you.

    And that little dog is B R A V E !

  4. You can claim all the snow you want here in Ohio. I don't think anyone will stop you, as long as you're willing to take it back to Texas with you.

  5. Annah: She is a brave little dog. She forgets sometimes that she's only five pounds. She's a fierce protector. I wish you could see in pictures that she was growling at the snow when she sniffed it. But you can't hear growls in pictures. :(

Bryan: I would take it by the truckload happily! I wanted to make snow cream this morning since I haven't had it since I was a little girl, but I didn't get to because I was out of vanilla! If I could just get some vanilla and then get a truckload of snow from Ohio, I could have snow cream for a year!

  6. The snow is lovely. I love that hat you're wearing, by the way. I don't think I could pull it off.

Choo Choo is fortunate that the snow isn't much deeper. She might get lost! :)

PS: FREEZE THE SNOWBALL! It's a brilliant idea! Just make sure you soften it a bit before you throw it, or Padawan could end up with a concussion.

  7. I love that hat. It's big enough that I could tuck all of my hair up in it. I went out after my shower so my hair was soaking wet.

She would not have gone out if it had been deeper. She didn't really want to go out, but she needed exercise.

PS. Wouldn't you know it but it's the DRYEST, POWDERIEST SNOW EVER! I tried for an HOUR to pack that stuff into a snowball and it just kept falling apart in my hands! I got so frustrated I threw a handful at the wall and it disintegrated into dust before it even hit! I couldn't even make a snow man!

  8. That is a pretty, manageable amount of snow. Enjoy it while you can. If you ever want more, I have plenty of unwanted, unloved snow that could use your affection and appreciation. Just let me know.

  9. If you could send me the snow of the wet variety that I can pack into snowballs and a snowman, that would be awesome. I would give it all the love and attention and appreciation it could ever possibly need, plus some. Choo Choo will not like it, but she can stay inside.

  10. Wow! Someone else has heard of making ice cream out of snow? And in Texas, no less. Who would have though?

  11. Central Texans have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyone who has spent any time further North up by the Panhandle knows all about snow cream. We aren't buried down here, you know.

  13. Most people I mention snow cream to here in Ohio have no idea what I'm talking about. Heck, technically I've never heard of it and we made it all the time when I was a kid. I just never heard it called "snow cream". We just called it "making ice cream out of snow; stay away from the yellow snow". I like "snow cream" a lot better, though.

  14. When I was a kid I called it "snow ice cream" because I didn't really have a better word for it. But when I was sixteen I read this book and the cousin of the Princess in the book was a spoiled brat who had snow brought from the mountain tops to the palace every day, just in case he wanted to eat "snow cream". And while I didn't appreciate the wasted efforts of the peasants having to haul in snow every day when he only ate snow cream twice a year, I totally liked the name of it. So I've used it ever since.
